1. What is Witness Protection Agency? - Witness Protection Agency

The Witness Protection Agency is a Body Corporate established under the Witness Protection Act (Cap 79 Laws of Kenya) which came into operation on 1^st September, 2008 vide Legal Notice No. 110/2008 dated 19^th August, 2008 as amended by the Witness Protection (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2010 and Witness Protection (Amendment) Act No. 45 of 2016.

Our Agency provides special protection, on behalf of the State, to persons in possession of important information and who are facing potential risk or intimidation due to their co-operation with law enforcement agencies.

Inclusion in the Witness Protection Programme is voluntary and shall not be treated as a reward or means of persuading a witness to give evidence or record a statement. Additionally, the Agency does not arrest offenders, investigate criminal cases or prosecute.

Application to the protection programme IS NOT done online but through email (director@wpa.go.ke), or Hotline (0711 222 441 , 0725 222442), in person (Liaison Offices in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu) or through a referral or law enforcement agency.

The information on the website is private and its use for whatever purposes must be authorized by the Director/Chief Executive of the Agency.
